Digital Holograms: Binary Phase

The holographic lenses in original HoloSpex Glasses are binary amplitude digital computer generated holograms. Binary phase holograms are clear ( as opposed to the gray tint for binary amplitude) and can create brighter holographic images. The increase in brightness comes at the expense of an increase in blur of the background scene. We are currently working on optimizing the tradeoff between hologram image brightness and scene blur.

We have produced binary phase heart lens film which can be purchased from American Paper Optics.

We have in-house capabilities to design and fabricate binary phase holograms in photoresist. Working with industrial partners we can provide holograms in film format in a variety of sizes and thicknesses.
